Sustainable weddings in Istria
When we talk about global warming and pollution, we always think of big industrial companies as the biggest culprits. However, people are slowly starting to understand that everything starts with the individual. Many a little makes a mickle, right? But what about weddings? It is known that one wedding can leave behind a lot of waste, from food waste to plastic bottles, straws, PVC foil, and so on… LF Weddings have worked with environmental awareness for many years in a way of waste separation, not using plastics (or if it’s a must, it is recycled plastic), resource optimization, energy-saving, etc. But this year, we had an opportunity to organize a fully sustainable wedding in Istria.
The wedding ceremony was held in St. Eufemia’s church in Rovinj. After, the celebration was continued in beautiful Istrian agrotourism. Summer air, nature, and love marked that day. At the entrance, the guests were welcomed with the welcome point carefully decorated with candles inside the wooden lanterns and with various Istrian herbs placed in paper bags.
When entering the yard, ambiance exuded with a special design created to fit perfectly to the newlyweds’ personalities. Simple, natural, and romantic with a touch of elegance by LF. The tables were placed under a multitude of trees that provided much-needed shade on a hot summer day, but they also held many lights that were set as icing on the cake for evening romance.
The table setting was a true example of a sustainable wedding. All the drinks were held in glass bottles, recycled beer bottles were used as vases for a minimum of cut flowers. Wonderful cotton napkins above recycled paper menus and again, various Istrian herbs in decorative paper bags to adorn the central part of the table as the part of the décor.
Those same herbs were given to the guests as a thank-you gift, along with a bag of coffee made by a local coffee maker Monte. The coffee bag was designed to be made on recycled paper and with a written thank you note. During the celebration, coffee was placed at the photo&relax corner which was near the newlyweds’ table.
Their table was decorated with various flowers placed in paper jars, recycled beer bottles, and glass vases. Candles and lights were creating beautiful light magic. Beside the photo&relax corner, there was also a sweet corner with various pastries, decorated to perfectly fit in the rest of the garden.
As the night was passing by, those lights and candles were coming in. with all the decorations and live music, Istrian agrotourism was witnessing one more magical night of celebrating love and its union.
